Best Beach Bars in Tulum

From the most “party vibes” to the most relaxing, there’s a beach club in Tulum for every mood and taste: whether you want to dance under a DJ set, eat and drink all day long, or just read a magazine and take long naps. These are the places we recommend, to spend the whole day with your feet on the sand and your gaze on the sea.

Bagatelle Tulum

Lots of “Tulum Vibes,” but with a touch of French and Mediterranean luxury. Right in the heart of the Hotel Zone, Bagatelle is one of the classiest and best beach clubs in Tulum. Get ready to party all day long and be carried away by their French “joie de vivre.”

Bagatelle was born by the joint forces of two French entrepreneurs, who were able to infuse the St. Tropez spirit and the rich French cuisine into their first restaurant in New York City. Since the early 2000s, when the first Bagatelle in the City was opened, the concept was successfully and quickly exported to many other famous destinations worldwide. London, Miami, St. Tropez, Mykonos, and, of course, Tulum are just to name a few.

Open Monday to Sunday (11 AM - 11 PM), Bagatelle Tulum offers Bar, Beach Area, Concierge Access, DJ, Lounge Area, Private Events, VIP Service, and Valet service. Not to mention a fantastic Signature Menu curated by Chef Rocco Seminara & Chef Marco Estrada. When in Tulum, their “avocado pizza” can’t be missed.

Vagalume Tulum

More suitable for a younger crowd and recognizable by its iconic hands-shaped sculptures, Vagalume is another excellent spot to transition from beach day to party night.

The beach club was recently renovated, and it’s now, for the most part, roofless and open air. There are plenty of sun beds on the front line to soak up the sun during the day and tables covered by marquees to sit around with friends and enjoy an unforgettable dinner under the stars. The swimming pool - perhaps their most Instagram-worthy spot - lies right in the center and features a wooden footbridge supported by two giant hands sculptures.

The restaurant offers a rich and diverse menu, reinterpreting classic recipes of the healthy Mediterranean cuisine and Japanese options at their Sushi Bar, Okoru. You can gather around the fire on Saturdays and enjoy an ancestors-like brunch (“Fogo” - Saturdays from 11 am to 5 pm).

You're likely to have found your favorite beach club with different artists and DJs every night and a very strong Tulum atmosphere. Vagalume is located at km 7.5 of Tulum Beach and opens Tuesday to Sunday, from 11 am to 1 am.

Gitano Beach

What started as a small mezcal bar - nestled in the jungle side of the beach road - has now become the emblem of Friday nights in Tulum.

Since 2013, the charm of its iconic neon sign and flashy disco ball became so irresistible that Gitano had to open doors in NYC (2018 - “The Garden Of Love”) and Miami (2019 - “Casa Faena”). Later, in 2021, the brand introduced another location in Tulum: Gitano Beach. Gitano's gypsy, boho, and chic energy were condensed and brought straight onto the beach from the jungle.

With the Nation Park at its shoulders and the turquoise Caribbean Sea at its front, this Private Beach Club & Restaurant is a place to “see, be seen, have fun and connect.” Open daily from 11:00 am to 12:00 am. Their restaurant serves a “Beach International Menu,” all cooked on an open fire and mixing Caribbean and Mediterranean dishes. From Sunday brunch to movie nights, a beach day has never been so “effortlessly glamorous” as at Gitano Beach.

The Real Coconut by Sanará Tulum

A day at a beach club doesn’t always have to be about dancing and people-watching. It can also be an occasion to relax and reset the body & mind simply.

Sanará and its flagship restaurant are just the perfect locations to do so. Spanish for “will heal,” this hotel welcomes guests and day visitors to a beautiful and peaceful beach setting. Excellent service and cozy sun beds, from where you can order the healthy and tasty dishes of the next-door restaurant - Real Coconut.

The menu is symbolic of their commitment to “nourish ourselves and nurture our world”: plant-focused and 100% gluten, dairy & grain free. Like any good beach restaurant, every Saturday & Sunday, Real Coconut offers an incredible brunch by the ocean with live DJ sets.

Whether in Tulum Beach or Malibu (the second location of the famous restaurant), Real Coconut is the place to begin your healing journey, with lots of healthy eating, relaxation, and soaking up vitamin D by the sea.
